Mary Katherine Hocking

Mary Katherine Hocking is an English teacher at Staples High School, where she has led her Senior Themes classes through the process of drafting and crafting their personal college essays each September. With regular research into the college admissions process, Mary Katherine is constantly assessing trends and requirements for admission so she can assist students in crafting essays that showcase who they are as individuals in a sea of applicants. She earned a BA in English from the University of Connecticut, an MA from Quinnipiac University, and is a teacher-consultant for the Connecticut Writing Project at UConn. In her spare time, Mary Katherine likes to watch Huskies games with her beagle Liffey.
