Description
Does your child love hands-on challenges and discovering hidden patterns? Then sign them up for our new after-school club where they'll become a real-life Data Detective!
In this club, students will work with partners or teams to collect, represent, and interpret data using engaging activities. It's a great way to build confidence in science, math, graphing, and critical thinking and collaboration skills.
Here are just a few of the activities we'll explore:
Coin Flippers: Flip a coin 100 times to record "streaks" (Heads or Tails in a row) and create bar graphs to see how probability works in action.
Pencil Rampers: Roll a pencil down a ramp at different angles to find the angle that gives the farthest roll. Students will use their median roll distances to create a line graph and discover if the data forms a bell curve.
Stopwatch No-Lookers: Working in pairs, students will use a stopwatch and their internal clock to try and stop the time exactly at a secret target—without looking! We'll use the results to build a double bar graph and see if it's easier to hit a short or long target time.
Please pack water and a nut-free snack for your child.
