MARGIE STOKLEY began her career in the arts as a child actor and continued to work Off-Broadway and regionally since graduating from NYU in 1996. She co- founded the award-winning New York city based, Andhow! Theater Company where she helped to foster new plays Off-Off Broadway from seed of an idea to full production. She has written six full-length plays; her play ELEPHANT was produced by Andhow! Theater Company, directed by Jessica Davis-Irons and produced by the Ontological Theater in 2005. New York Theatre Experience published ELEPHANT in Plays and Playwrights 2005 and excerpts are published by Smith and Krauss in their Best Women’s Stage Monologues 2005, Best Men’s Stage Monologues 2005, and 222 More Comedy Monologues in 2017. Excerpts also appear in Applause Book’s Best Monologues of the Millennium and DUO! Best Scenes for the Twenty-First Century.
Her children’s musical STEVEN was commissioned by ArtNY and toured New York City camps and most recently was produced by Theater O in Ossining, NY. She also co-created PERFECT HARMONY with Andrew Grosso and the Essential Company, a theatrical mockumentary about a championship high school acapella group. PERFECT HARMONY is published by Samuel French. It was performed Off Broadway at the Acorn Theatre, Clurman Theatre, Fringe NYC, Fringe Encores, and Stoneham Theatre (MA).
When not acting or writing, she runs “Give it a go!” a multi-disciplinary arts classroom where students are offered a chance to train as singers, actors, artists, and playwrights. There are classes for all ages, including adults!
