Cheryl Canada
Cheryl Canada graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2006 and will begin her ninth season coaching the Bobcats. A former four-year stand-out for the team, Canada was known for her powerful cross ball, as well as her speed in transition, and she was a member of the 2003 Northeast Conference Championship team. She also competed in the NCAA Division I play-in game. She earned her USA Field Hockey Level 2 certification in 2013, and that year, as a coach, Canada mentored 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year Jess Rusin, All-MAAC forward Danielle Allan, as well as All-NEC stand-out Katie Notarianni '12. In addition to her work with the forwards, Canada's coaching responsibilities include daily practice design for Quinnipiac goalkeepers. Prior to returning to Quinnipiac, Canada was an assistant field hockey coach at North Branford High School and a member of the coaching staff that helped North Branford capture the 2006 Class S State Championship, their first state title in 30 years. In 2007-08, Canada served as the first assistant coach for the University of Rochester field hockey team. For the past 8 years, Canada has served as a coach for the USA Field Hockey Futures Program. For the past 5 years, Canada has served as head field hockey coach and site director for the Connecticut U19, U16, and U14 teams.
