Description

Welcome to our EcoSquad where we will learn about ecology and the environment of our planet! Students will become better stewards of the environment by studying marine life and beach ecosystems, examining farm and food systems, and preserving our forests and watersheds. Come design and participate in Eco-celebrations that include creative art, songs, and storytelling. Students will work in Eco-teams to complete a project on the ways humans impact the environment and construct models for solutions to real world issues like global climate change. Lauren Amaturo is the Engineering and Design teacher at Coleytown Middle School in Westport. This is her 20th year in education and she most recently worked for CREC in Hartford as an instructional coach for STEM. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BS in Biology, MA in Education and a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership. Lauren has two children Ava and Ben and lives by the beach in Milford.

Please bring a water bottle and nut-free snack. Student drop-off and pick-up will take place at the Staples High School front entrance.
