Description

For kids who love to work with their hands, take things apart, and build cool stuff. Learn about the engineering design process through in-depth building challenges. Let's tackle real-world issues like extreme weather with hands-on projects that may include: designing, building and testing wind turbines. Let's create a Rube Goldberg machine (marble runs and domino racing) or build and launch soda bottle rockets. And construct an original project using only recycled materials! (Instructor Lauren Amaturo)

Lauren Amaturo is the Engineering and Design teacher at Coleytown Middle School in Westport. This is her 20th year in education and she most recently worked for CREC in Hartford as an instructional coach for STEM. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BS in Biology, MA in Education and a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership. Lauren has two children Ava and Ben and lives by the beach in Milford.

Please bring a water bottle and nut-free snacks. Student drop-off and pick-up will take place at the Staples High School front entrance.
