ALL-STARS SPORTS CAMP (Entering Gr. 6 & up) ~ Play sports and activities you love or try some new activities for the first time.  During any week, activities may include such things as basketball, wiffleball, volleyball, flag football, track events, capture the flag, supervised workouts, frisbee and other organized sports games and athletic contests.  Campers will have option to go swimming.  Come with friends or make new friends! This multi-sports program is designed to build self-esteem, improve overall athleticism, promote good sportsmanship and allow campers to have FUN in a safe environment.  Different activities will be run by certified physical education teachers, coaches, or athletes who were successful at the high school or college levels.  Camp is on rain or shine - we will have access to the synthetic turf field for a variety of activities, indoor gym and indoor pool.  Your choice of mornings, afternoons or all day.   Full day campers should bring lunch.  (Coordinator, Dan Barbiero; Instructors involved over the summer include Jeff Doornweerd, Kevin Fallon, Sandra Guinane, Jesse McCray, Andrew McLoughlin, Don Savage, Christopher Scholz, CJ Shamas)

Get in condition and work on your strokes under the direction of Staples High School Varsity Swim Coach Mike Laux and Jeff Doornweerd.  Improve your fitness and conditioning as you work out in the Fitness Center on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings.  Come as often as you like.

YOGA FOR TEENS (Entering Gr. 8-12): This class will guide you toward a calming, centering practice of yoga to help you find self-acceptance, confidence, and become grounded. These years can be a time of struggle and alienation, but also one of transition and the awakening of endless possibilities. Yoga will challenge you to trust yourself and stay present through difficulties, as well as gain strength, flexibility, coordination and concentration. TRACK & FIELD CLUB (ALL ages):  Emphasis is on proper running, jumping, and throwing techniques and on improving strength, flexibility, endurance and performance. Safety, good sportsmanship, and a healthy work ethic are also emphasized. T-shirt included. (Instructor, Jesse McCray) 
 
Beginners will be introduced to sprinting, distance running, and throwing events. Attendance at meets is optional.

BASEBALL WORLD  TRAINING SCHOOL (Ages 5-15): Imagine yourself playing baseball all day long. Players will participate in drills, skills and intra-squad games. Instructors will focus on all aspects of the game of baseball, including infield/outfield techniques, hitting, bunting, catching, pitching, base running, and sliding. Each week a current or former major league baseball player, manager or coach will visit and conduct a clinic. Scheduled to appear this summer  are Sandy Alomar Sr., Gary Matthews Sr. and others. SUMMER LACROSSE FOR GIRLS (Entering Gr. 6-9):  Lacrosse is a fast growing sport, which means that in addition to offering all of the advantages that athletics do, girls find lots of opportunities at the collegiate level.  Join us for a week of fun developing your skills as a lacrosse player as we focus on individual and team skills.  Each player must have a stick and a mouth guard.  Bring plenty of water. GILMAN LACROSSE CAMP (Entering Gr. K-9): The camp week focuses on all aspects of lacrosse as a game and as a sport. Daily sessions include mini-clinics, video taping, strength and conditioning techniques, offensive and defensive strategies, and game play as a whole. 1 to 8 professional coach/participant ratio. T-shirt and gift bag included. The Gilman Lacrosse program is celebrating 10 years of lacrosse instruction as the only full time lacrosse school in the United States. Limited enrollment. MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER CAMP: Major League Soccer Camp is one of the fastest growing instructional and recreational camp program in the area.  The camp focuses on soccer skills and team play. Coaches use an approach to teaching based on concepts in child development as well as soccer information. ALL-STARS SPORTS INSTRUCTIONAL BASKETBALL CAMP (Entering Gr. 3-10):  Players of all abilities – beginners to advanced – will love and enjoy our instruction on basketball fundamentals. Campers will be grouped by age and skill for daily drills, teaching stations, films, games, and contests. Demonstrations, awards and more will be incorporated into this action packed day camp. Come learn, improve both your skills and knowledge of the game, make new friends and have loads of fun. You’ll be ready and prepared to play better when you leave our camp. Bring water and a snack. KARA WOLTERS “DREAM BIG” BASKETBALL CAMP FOR GIRLS (Ages 8-15):  Learn on court drills and off court skills from UCONN great and Olympic Gold Medalist Kara Wolters!  At 6’ 7”, Kara is one of the most accomplished female basketball players in the world.  She has played with undefeated National Champions UCONN in 1995 and then played in the WNBA in 1999 and won a championship with the Houston Comets.  Kara will bring with her experienced coaches and counselors and will have guest speakers that will offer great knowledge of the game.  This is a must for all young girls interested in playing basketball!
