Enroll in this valuable class where you can indulge in a good book, experience success on a daily basis, and then celebrate your success at the end of each week. Each day is filled with reading, writing, listening, thinking, and learning with interdisciplinary activities. Enhance your skills and become better prepared for the coming year. CREATIVE WRITING (Entering Gr. 2-5): This is a course designed for children interested in writing, illustrating, publishing, and sharing their work. Each student will have a journal to place entries and develop seeds for future work. Students will explore various genres by reading and exploring various published texts.  They will use authors as models to create their own published work.  We will learn about fantasy, memoir, fairytales, “fractured fairytales”, and more.  Join us for a creative writing adventure this summer! READING AND WRITING SKILLS WORKSHOPS (Entering Gr. 5-6, 7-8): Develop your reading and writing skills for next year! Be better prepared and enjoy class more.  Improve your writing, grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension in this series of one week workshops designed around students’ interests with respect to middle school level Language Arts.  All five weeks of this comprehensive program will include lessons in grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, editing and revising.  In addition, the first two weeks will focus on fiction reading comprehension*, the next two weeks will focus on non-fiction reading comprehension**, and the last week will focus on improving students’ persuasive and creative writing skills***. STUDY SKILLS WORKSHOP (Entering Gr. 5-9): The hm Study Skills Course developed at Harvard University and the Milton Academy was sponsored nationwide by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the National Association of Elementary School Principals. hm Study Skills courses are designed to help young learners improve their basic academic competencies. Students will acquire new skills in listening techniques, vocabulary development, notetaking methods, reading strategies, solving problems, memorization, paragraph organization, taking tests, and using time effectively.
